The Spectrum stores only two colours per 8×8 cell: INK and PAPER (plus BRIGHT and FLASH). Paint a red pixel into a cell with blue ink and the whole cell's ink turns red. That's "attribute clash". It's not a bug, it's a lifestyle.
Tips: turn off "Paint attributes" to draw pixels without changing colours, and use the Attribute brush (A) to recolour cells without touching pixels.
32×23 mode locks the bottom row, where BASIC prints "0 OK, 0:1".
Compared with NorbSoft's zx-editor.vercel.app. Friendly rivalry, 48K of respect.

"—" = not assessed. NorbSoft's is a lovely tool; we just refuse to let 747 cells go unpainted.
